Windows Update might find an updated version of your printer driver. To use it: Select the Start button, then select Settings Update & Security, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update finds an updated driver, it will download and install it, and your printer will automatically use it. If your printer came with a disc, it might contain software that can help you install drivers for your printer or check for driver updates.
Download and install the driver from the printer manufacturer’s website
Check your printer manufacturer’s support site. To find that, search the internet for the name of your printer manufacturer plus the word “support,” such as “HP support.”
Driver updates are often available in the “Drivers” section of a printer manufacturer’s website. Some support sites let you search for your printer model number directly. Locate and download the latest driver for your printer model, then follow the installation instructions on the manufacturer’s website.
Most drivers are self-installing. After you download them, double-click (or double-tap) the file to begin installing it. Then follow these steps to remove and reinstall the printer.
Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners .
Under Printers & scanners, find the printer, select it, and then select Remove device.
After removing your printer, add it back by selecting Add a printer or scanner. Wait for your device to find nearby printers, choose the one you want, and then select Add device.
What to do if the driver doesn't install
If you double-click the installation file and nothing happens, follow these steps:

Select the Start button, then select Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners .
On the right, under Related Settings, select Print server properties.
On the Drivers tab, see if your printer listed. If it is, you’re all set.
If you don’t see your printer listed, select Add, and in the Welcome to the Add Printer Driver Wizard, select Next.
In the Processor Selection dialog box, select your device’s architecture, and then select Next.
In the Printer Driver Selection dialog box, on the left, select your printer manufacturer, on the right, select your printer driver, select Next, select Finish, and follow the instructions to add your driver.
Follow the instructions in the section above to remove and reinstall the printer.

FAQ
- Can I use MSP430-JTAG with Windows Vista, Windows 7 and/or Windows 8?
- There isn't such support. Generally, Olimex LPT products can be used up to Windows XP. Any newer Windows would require a virtual machine running XP.
- Can I use MSP430-JTAG with XYZ development IDE/tools?
- Compatible with software tools that have support for MSP430 Debug Stack version 2 (MSP430.dll v2). Most tools nowadays have switched to MSP430 Debug Stack version 3 so this product would not be supported.
- What amount of current MSP430-JTAG can source to the target circuit?
- No more than 2-3 mA. It takes power from the parallel port, so it's quite limited, of course this is still good to run some small MSP430 targets circuits.
- Why is the ribbon cable so small? My computer is 1 meter away from my target circuit?
- The ribbon cable should be short. Please use DB25 parallel port extension cables male-female to connect MSP430-JTAG to your printer port.
- Other companies charge money for MSP430 programming software, why is yours free?
- To write MSP430 programming software using the TI MSP430.dll is a very easy job, there would probably be tons of such programmers available if TI was not keeping the DLL content secret. The programmer software we offer is a beta testing software so it may have some bugs although we've been using it for years at home. Now we've decided to release it for the public as we got a number of questions about whether we know of any such software :). As we are a more hardware-oriented company rather than software-oriented and we've never gotten involved in sales of software, we decided to just release it as a freeware and not to hassle with software copy protections and such.Note that it's not open source but a copyrighted software, although it costs you nothing to obtain or distribute it. We are going to fix all reported bugs in a timely manner but keep in mind that it's not a commercial project and our people have a lot of other stuff to do.
